Please be aware that our appraisal staff is currently in the field conducting annual inspections and remeasurements in accordance with our Biennial Reappraisal Plan, in compliance with the Texas Property Tax Code. Their vehicles are marked, and they have an ID badge on their person.

In compliance with direction from the state Comptroller’s office, our 2025 property values were certified with the new exemption amounts from SB4 and SB23 assumed. Both bills did pass the November 2025 vote, so the new exemption amounts will remain in place.

The appraisal district office does not send out tax bills or collect tax payments. Property tax bills are issued by, and tax payments are to be made out to, the Matagorda County Tax Assessor/Collector located at the County Tax Office (1801 7th St, Bay City, TX 77414). Tax payments made out to the appraisal district will not be processed, but will be taken to the Tax Office so they can contact the taxpayer about voiding the incorrect check and issuing a corrected one.

Public Notice:

The public is welcome to use the hanging plat maps and
(2) public computers located in our front lobby area to access CAD data.

For the safety of our staff and the public visiting the CAD, we ask that you
contact us via email or phone to get the service you need if you are not
feeling well, especially if you are running a fever.

We kindly ask you to wear a mask if you are coming to our office for an
in-person protest hearing and are feeling unwell and cannot or do not
wish to conduct your hearing via affidavit or telephone conference instead, especially if you are running a fever.
